Professional Journey and Experience
Originally hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, my passion for the performing arts took root during my years at Mason High School. It was there that I first became involved in the marching band, playing the trombone. However, my true enthusiasm was always for color guard, a pursuit that would guide much of my academic and professional life.
My commitment to color guard continued at the University of Cincinnati. While at the university, I marched with the Bearcat Band and performed with the Bearcat Winterguard, which had the opportunity to participate at Winter Guard International (WGI) events. A pivotal moment in my journey occurred when my mentor, Larry Rebillot, encouraged me to audition for the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 1998. This experience culminated in a 5thplace finish at the Drum Corps International (DCI) finals, marking a significant achievement in my early career.
After completing my time on tour, I embarked on a teaching career that has spanned more than 25 years. I have worked with a variety of programs in the Tri-State Circuit, which includes Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. My teaching engagements have included LaSalle High School (OH), Ryle High School (KY), Simon Kenton (KY), and Bourbon County (KY), with the latter achieving both KMEA Class champion and Bands of America (BOA) class champion honors during my tenure. Additionally, I was honored to be invited to teach at the BOA Summer Symposium and at Western Carolina University. My involvement in multiple color guard clinics allowed me to connect with many students and directors throughout the region. Following a move to Florida, I continued my work with East Ridge High School and Lecanto High School.
Transitioning to an office role in the marching band industry, I began to develop new skills, supporting directors in acquiring the supplies and resources they needed. Through this work, I became well-versed in the products and offerings of leading industry brands such as DSI, StylePlus, Dinkles, and Drillmasters, as well as formal wear options for tuxedos and dresses. My responsibilities expanded to include graphic design for flags and branding initiatives. Whether designing printed t-shirts, bags, caps, or coordinating custom embroidery for member jackets and polos, I am committed to helping directors find exactly what they need.
Drawing upon a strong foundation in the marching arts and extensive experience across teaching and industry roles, I am deeply committed to providing exceptional customer service to directors and their programs. My passion lies in contributing, even in small ways, to the achievements and progress of the ensembles I support. Each successful season or milestone is a testament to the collaborative effort between directors, staff, and those working behind the scenes.
I am eager to connect with new directors, offering guidance and support that enables them to focus more on teaching and less on logistical concerns. Whether it is ensuring that essential items like shoes and gloves are ordered on time, or assisting with custom apparel and equipment needs, my goal is to streamline their experience so they can devote their attention to the students and the music. This commitment to service and partnership is at the heart of my professional journey. I’m looking forward to being your Virtual Assistant!!
