From drumline to sound system to booster boardrooms — I make fine arts sustainable.
I believe every student, director, and parent deserves the tools, training, and culture to thrive in the fine arts — without barriers, burnout, or broken systems.
Mike DeJohn is the founder of SoundstageEDU, blending 20+ years of drum corps, theater, and professional live production into a unique approach for schools and boosters nationwide. He offers virtual percussion clinics, sideline audio design, and booster culture consulting that’s affordable, practical, and rooted in real-world experience. Known for his conversational “teaching, not bragging” style, Mike helps students grow, directors breathe easier, and parents build sustainable programs.
Whether it’s a $100 virtual drumline tune-up or a full booster board reset, Mike makes fine arts accessible to all.

About Me
I’ve spent the last three decades in two overlapping worlds:
professional live event production and fine arts education. By day, I am a lead production coordinator for large-scale events across the country, designing
systems for audio, lighting, and video. By night (and many weekends), I’m a mentor, consultant, and culture-builder for marching bands, drumlines, and youth theater programs.
I came up through the marching arts and drum corps activity, cut my teeth in theater tech, and now work with schools, boosters, and community programs to bridge the gap between professional-grade production values and educational accessibility. I believe students and directors deserve support that is affordable, practical, and empowering
— not flashy, not gatekept, but accessible to every program, regardless of size or budget.

Why Work With Me?
I’m not here to show off chops or drop in for a “one-day wonder.” My style is teaching, talking, and mentoring —equipping your students, directors, and boosters with tools they can use long after I leave the Zoom room.
What sets me apart:
Let’s Work Together
If it can happen on Zoom, I can be there with you. And when in-person makes more sense, we’ll work out the logistics.
My mission is simple: make the fine arts sustainable, accessible, and
inspiring for everyone involved — students, staff, and parents.
Schedule your first consultation or clinic today, and let’s build something great together.
