A original solo for marimba & delay pedal, entitled "Phoenix" written by Eric Levy (ASCAP). Program Notes This solo is written & dedicated to the chosen few who actively be themselves, while others might misunderstand their actions and emotions. While they did not choose to think the way they do, they embrace it with open arms and live their lives to the fullest of their abilities. Attention Deficit Hyper-Active Disorder is not a choice, and it’s not an option to be turned on and off by those who experience it on a daily basis. They are not helpless individuals who need to be guided, they are capable people that find happiness in support and trust that we must provide and earn when given the opportunity. Musically the piece starts with a fluttering motif of close intervals, and gradually expands into open structures that create a evolving atmosphere of space and energy. The use of the Delay Pedal enhances the depth of the sound and was chosen as a vital interface of this piece that shows natural beauty through the all the distractions surrounding it's core. The entire piece drives itself forward using both natural sounds and artificial ones to give the listener/audience the experience of what it seems like to always have continuous emotions and thoughts running through their head, such as someone who experiences ADHD. In addition to listening, purchasing, or sharing this solo, please consider researching more topics about ADD & ADHD by visiting https://www.CHADD.org and learning more about the subject so you can be a stronger supporter of someone who lives with this ability each day. #marimba #percussionist #percussionmusic #marimbasolo
"Hypnosis" indoor percussion show written by Eric Levy for Upper-A Class skill level ensembles. | Show Theme | Hypnosis is the feeling of being in a trance state of mind that creates extreme focus and concentration. The use of recurring themes, rhythms, and unique layers creates a feeling of a loop where you get lost within the moment. The show is best performed with images such as spirals, and repetitive expanding/condensing shapes that keep the audience focused on certain elements that draw them into the production. | Music | Based on themes from "Sweet Dreams", and also featuring original compositions by Eric Levy For more information, visit www.musicbyericlevy.com
